Sentimental Cello

NEPACMS ends their 2022-2023 concert season with a spectacular lineup of artists and lush music. Tchaikovsky’s admiration and reverence of Beethoven can be seen in his letters, articles, and diary entries, but he would himself leave an indelible influence and legacy as seen in the music of Glière and Arensky. Arensky’s most popular work, and rightfully so, Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky, was an arrangement of the second movement of his second string quartet dedicated “To the memory of Tchaikovsky” and written for violin, viola, and two cellos.
