Nancy Sanderson, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic’s Executive Director, formerly was the Founder and Director of The Performing Arts Institute of Wyoming Seminary, an international program for pre-college students with exceptional talent in music, music theatre and dance. Her responsibilities included program design, marketing, domestic and international student recruitment, faculty recruitment, preparation of annual budget and financial management. Prior to this position, she was an Adjunct Instructor of flute, woodwind methods, music education methods and faculty advisor to the collegiate chapter of MENC at Wilkes University. She was also the Director of the Encore Music Camp of Pennsylvania, which started as a 6-week summer music program and later expanded to include a full year component through the Wilkes University. Also at Wilkes University, Nancy was the Admissions Representative for the Department of Music, recruiting for the University’s Bachelor of Music programs. In addition, Nancy taught music at the Elementary and Middle school level at Wyoming Seminary, St. Leo’s School and the Oneonta Public Schools. As a professional flutist, she formerly performed with the Anastasia Flute and Guitar Duo, the Birch Hill Consort, the Glimmerglass Opera, Catskill Symphony, the NEPA Choral Society Orchestra, the NEPA Oratorio Orchestra and the Civic Orchestra. She has an active flute studio from which many of her students have been accepted for professional studies in prestigious schools such as Eastman, University of Michigan, Northwestern, Oberlin and Manhattan. Her teachers include John Oberbrunner, Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and Professor at Syracuse University and Lois Schaefer, Boston Symphony Orchestra and Professor at New England Conservatory.
