Jason Sherry studied Theater and Film at Ithaca College and has been working as a teacher, director, and actor for over 25 years.  He is currently the Chair of Fine & Performing Arts at Wyoming Seminary, where he has also been the Director of Drama and a teacher of English, Theater, Digital Film, and Photography.  Jason relishes his ongoing opportunity to work in the Arts at Sem along with his wife Ellen (a director and costumer) and for years with his son Kieran (an actor, writer, and filmmaker), now wrapping up his final semester studying film in college).

As a director, Jason has directed dozens of plays and musicals, including the regional premieres of shows like Urinetown: the Musical, Arcadia, Bright Star, Grand Hotel, and Blood Brothers.  As an actor, in addition to performing in regional and Off-Broadway theater, he appeared in the Emmy-nominated documentary Stories from the Mines and the independent films Barrage (seen on the Independent Film Channel), The Suicide Notes (available on DVD and Amazon Prime Video), and Placebo.  As a filmmaker, he has directed and produced several short films, commercials and promotional videos—with YouTube channel views in the hundreds of thousands—and his first feature-length film spent time in DVD rotation on Netflix.  In addition to performing in regional and Off-Broadway theater, he appeared in the Emmy-nominated documentary Stories from the Mines and the independent films Barrage (seen on the Independent Film Channel), The Suicide Notes (available on DVD and Amazon Prime Video), and Placebo.

Jason is a founding member of both The Community Film Project (a non-profit independent film organization) and co-creator of the Northeast Pennsylvania Film Festival.  As a long-time video collaborator with Brad Meltzer (#1 NY Times Bestselling Author and History Channel host), he has produced and directed dozens of short video and promotional pieces, including two fund-raising videos for the Siegel & Shuster Society—The Home of Superman, a documentary video effort to preserve the house in which Jerry Siegel created the character of Superman (the video, which included the participation of Wyoming Seminary students, ultimately helped to raise over $110,000 for the cause), and Celebrate a Legend: The Superman Plaza, which helped to complete a 20-year-in-the-making, $2.5 million Tribute Plaza, a permanent installation in Cleveland, OH, honoring the legacy of Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and their iconic, enduring character. A firm believer in the value of the Arts to society and for the growth and development of the individual, Jason cites the best part of his job as getting to help students discover and recognize not just their talents but also their capabilities as artists and people.
