Trios for Piano, Violin and Viola

Rick Hoffenberg, John Vaida, and Amy Iwazumi join forces to bring two poignant works for an unusual instrumentation: Piano, violin, and viola.
The Jongen Trio, Op. 30 and Brahms Horn Trio, Op. 40 (later arranged for viola by Brahms) were created when the composers were in their early 30’s and both works were premiered with the composer at the piano. Rich with color and moments of exuberance and reflection, the works are jewels of the piano, violin, viola trio repertoire.
