Jonathan Weber enjoys a versatile musical career as a violinist, violist, conductor, and educator. Mr. Weber has shared the chamber music stage with members of the Orion String Quartet, Windscape, and the Bach Aria Group. He has also performed with with Billy Joel, Roger Daltrey, Peter Gabriel, Josh Groban, Taylor Swift, Idina Menzel, Sarah McLachlan, Barry Manilow, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett, Elvis Costello, Herbie Hancock, Savion Glover, Jay-Z, Beyonce Knowles, Alicia Keys, The Roots, Corey Glover, Janelle Monae, Eryka Badu, Sarah Silverman, the Irish Tenors, the Trans Siberian Orchestra, the Mahavishnu Project, Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
As an active New York freelancer, Mr. Weber performs regularly throughout the Broadway circuit, most recently serving as a member of the orchestra for Kinky Boots: The Musical. Album appearances include Billy Joel: Live at Shea Stadium, Jay-Z: Kingdom Come, Albert Hammond Jr: Como Te Llama, and Boardwalk Empire Volume 3: Music from the HBO Series. Mr. Weber has performed on television and film scores for composers including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Steven Van Zandt and Elliot Goldenthal. Journeying into the cinematic medium, Mr. Weber has appeared as an on-screen musician in Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus (2006), Sex and the City 2 (2010), Billy Joel: The Last Play at Shea (2010), Mildred Pierce (2011), Annie (2014), The Greatest Showman (2017), Joker (2019), and Season 3 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2019).
As an orchestral conductor, Mr. Weber made his televised conducting debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2014, performing with comedian Dana Carvey and The Roots. Other television appearances include The Late Show with Steven Colbert, The Late Show with David Letterman, The Today Show, Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly, The View, Christmas: Live at Rockefeller Center and PBS programs: Great Performances and Soundstage.
Mr. Weber has served on the faculties of the 92nd Street Y Music School, The University of Buffalo Summer Strings Workshop, The New York Summer Music Festival, The Odyssey Chamber Music Festival, and the Middlebury Summer Chamber Music Festival. Mr. Weber is currently an adjunct Professor at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College (CUNY).
