SUMMARY:Vibrant Sonorities
DESCRIPTION:A grossly underrated composer\, Josef Labor was a respected organist\, pianist\, teacher\, and composer\, who was colleagues with Johannes Brahms\, Richard Strauss\, Anton Bruckner\, Clara Schumann\, and Gustav Mahler. His piano quintet for piano\, violin\, viola\, cello\, and double bass highlights each instrument with sonorous melodies and masterfully integrates expansive harmonies. In this season-ending concert\, NEPACMS is thrilled to also present a world premiere of a piano quintet of the same instrumentation by pianist and composer Hwaen Ch’uqi. Known for his expressive and accessible works\, NEPACMS is honored and excited to bring this new work into the world! \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\nHwaen Ch’uqi Piano Quintet No. 2\, C-Dur\, CWV 60* \n\n\n\nJosef Labor Piano Quintet\, Op. 3 \n*World premiere \n\n\n\nARTISTS\n\n\n\nHwaen Ch’uqi\, piano \nJohn Vaida\, violin \nAmy Iwazumi\, viola \nLisa Caravan\, cello \nJames VanDemark\, double bass \n\n\n\nThis program is supported in part by the Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit 19 and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts\, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts\, a federal agency.

SUMMARY:Sensational Strings (Clarks Summit)
DESCRIPTION:NEPACMS is thrilled to present its most ambitious program yet\, pairing the sublime Brahms Second Sextet\, a masterpiece exuding elegance and rich lyricism\, with Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence\, a bright and vigorous composition for string sextet\, reminiscent of his renowned ballets. SUMMARY:Clarinet Counterpoint (Wilkes-Barre)
DESCRIPTION:Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A Major was written almost 125 years earlier than Somervell’s Clarinet Quintet in G Major\, yet both works have extraordinary poignancy and feature the clarinet as a lyrical voice. Despite\, or one might argue that by virtue of\, the difficulties Mozart was experiencing the year he composed the work\, between Constanze’s difficult pregnancy and his own financial and health woes\, a beautiful and transcendent composition was born. Arthur Somervell\, known mostly for his song cycles\, has woven his poetic and lyrical flare into this romantic clarinet quintet\, making for a sublime chamber work that is not to be missed! \n\n\n\n\n\n \nSATURDAY 11/4 St. Stephen’s Episcopal Wilkes-Barre at 7PM\n35 S. SUMMARY:Clarinet Counterpoint (Montrose)
\n\n\n\nFRIDAY 11/3 St. Paul’s Episcopal Montrose at 7PM (Free Admission)\n\n\n \n276 Church St\, Montrose\, PA 18801\n\n \nPROGRAM\n\n\n\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart Clarinet Quintet in A Major\, K. 581 \n\n\n\nArthur Somervell Clarinet Quintet in G Major \n\n\n\nARTISTS\n\n\n\n \nCalvin Falwell\, clarinet \n\n\n \nJohn Vaida\, violin \n\n\n \nArthur Moeller\, violin \n\n\n \nAmy Iwazumi\, viola \n\n\n \nBryan Hayslett\, cello

SUMMARY:Sentimental Cello
DESCRIPTION:NEPACMS ends their 2022-2023 concert season with a spectacular lineup of artists and lush music. Tchaikovsky’s admiration and reverence of Beethoven can be seen in his letters\, articles\, and diary entries\, but he would himself leave an indelible influence and legacy as seen in the music of Glière and Arensky. Arensky’s most popular work\, and rightfully so\, Variations on a Theme of Tchaikovsky\, was an arrangement of the beautiful second movement of his own second string quartet dedicated “To the memory of Tchaikovsky” and written for violin\, viola\, and two cellos. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\n\n\n\nReinhold Glière Ten Duets for Two Cellos\, Op. 53 \n\n\n\nI.
