SUMMARY:Clarinet Counterpoint (Wilkes-Barre)
DESCRIPTION:Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A Major was written almost 125 years earlier than Somervell’s Clarinet Quintet in G Major\, yet both works have extraordinary poignancy and feature the clarinet as a lyrical voice. Despite\, or one might argue that by virtue of\, the difficulties Mozart was experiencing the year he composed the work\, between Constanze’s difficult pregnancy and his own financial and health woes\, a beautiful and transcendent composition was born. Arthur Somervell\, known mostly for his song cycles\, has woven his poetic and lyrical flare into this romantic clarinet quintet\, making for a sublime chamber work that is not to be missed! \n\n\n\n\n\n \nSATURDAY 11/4 St. Stephen’s Episcopal Wilkes-Barre at 7PM\n35 S.
